XCeltutors: Making excellence accessible, engaging, and personal
About the project
When I joined the company, the project was already under development with limited clarity on user expectations. To quickly immerse myself in the context, I started with Desk Research to understand the educational landscape and competitive benchmarks. I also met with key stakeholders to align on the platform’s goals, challenges, and long-term vision.
Given the short timeline, I decided to conduct a Survey to collect insights directly from potential users — both students and tutors. This form-based approach provided surprisingly rich and actionable feedback, helping us identify core needs and opportunities without the need for extended user interviews.
At this stage, the user journey begins to take shape. We combined survey insights with stakeholder priorities, finding the right balance between user needs and project goals. And so, XcelTutors comes to life.
As we analyzed the survey responses, we uncovered valuable insights that helped shape the platform and deliver immediate value to stakeholders. A follow-up presentation was then created to align expectations and guide the project forward.
Digital Frictions: Many users struggle with finding specialized teachers online. They crave simplicity, wishing for an intuitive and seamless way to connect with experts.
A Desire for Expertise: A large majority of students (85.5%) highlighted that the most important factor for them is easily discovering teachers who specialize in their area of interest.
Efficiency Matters: For teachers, the focus is equally clear: 84.1% indicated that the most important aspects are organizing their classes effectively and maximizing financial returns.

The XcelTutors dashboard, inspired by DataCamp and Preply, features a clean design with a simple side menu for quick, organized access — making navigation easy for both students and tutors.
The calendar centralizes all scheduled classes and important dates, helping users stay organized and maintain a clear overview of their academic activities.
Users can easily switch between daily, weekly or monthly views, allowing them to explore their schedule with the level of detail that best fits their planning needs.
With a built-in calendar, reminders, and upcoming classes, the dashboard keeps users organized and focused—making scheduling simple for students and tutors.
The integrated chat screen streamlines interaction between students and teachers, enabling real-time communication, faster responses, and a more connected learning environment.
Document sharing is already built in, and features like photo and video upload illustrate what the chat can further support moving forward.
